CHROMATOGRAPHY SILICA GELS
Super Micro-Bead (SMB) and Micro-Beads (MB) spherical silica gels, and Granular (GS and BW) Silica gels manufactured by Fuji Silysia, are ideally suited for the normal phase chromatography (HPLC and LPLC). Small pore sizes to target lipid soluble organic, small organic compounds, natural and synthetic chemicals, and large pore sizes to target medium size peptides and large proteins.
All spherical silica gels are mechanically robust. Therefore, they can be repacked multiple times in either analytical or preparative scale columns. Moreover, each production batch has undergone extensive quality control testing to ensure reliable lot-to-lot performance.? S-Gel silica gels are manufactured to very high chemical purity standards. Organic solvents and trace metals content are controlled within stringent limits.
PAINT / COATINGS
Sharp control of particle size distributions allows formulator to produce films with a very smooth, yet matte finish. The quality of these smooth finishes excellently matches the requirements for leather / vinyl, and furniture applications. Yet the wide variety of grades allows Sylysia to perform outstandingly in industrial applications where 1:1 gloss ratios are desired as well.
PLASTIC FILMS
Plastic films and sheets are often rolled or piled after final processing. These films tend to adhere to each other at the many points of contact; a phenomenon called blocking. Such blocking problems occur in various kinds of plastic films, and can be minimized by introducing Sylysia to the formulation.
PAPER
Sylysia is widely used to improve the printing performance of photographic printing onto diazo-sensitive paper, second traced paper, and photographic printing paper. Additionally, applications for information recording paper such as electrostatic recording paper, sensitized paper, and impact paper benefit from Sylysia’s properties. Sylysia is also applicable as a color-coated paper matting agent and as an antiblocking agent for various kinds of paper.
INKS
High speed printing performance often suffers from problems of ink transfer during the printing process. Wet ink printed on film, sheet, or paper transfers onto contact surfaces of other materials that are piled together. Due to its extremely high porosity, Sylysia is able to rapidly adsorb the liquid ink, and thus has proven to be extremely effective in the prevention of ink transfer.
PHARMACEUTICALS / COSMETICS
Sylysia makes an excellent powderizing agent or carrier for liquid medicines, fragrances, vitamin oil, and many other products. Other applications include improvement of powder fluidity in tablet production, use as a coating agent, and as an additive in ointments and milky lotions. Additional cosmetic applications include bath salts and related bath cosmetics. Sylysia shows easy handling characteristics while stabilizing fragrances, hue, separation, adhesion, thickening, and fluidity. Sylysia is also used in cream products in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. A tailored, micronized silica, Sylopure, is a popular thickening and abrasive agent in toothpaste.
BEER CHILLPROOFING
Silica gel has a long history as a high performance chill-proofing agent. Combining a unique, selective adsorption of beer’s haze forming proteins along with exceptional foam and flavor stability, silica gel has become the most widely used haze stabilizer in the world. SYLOPUTE from Fuji Silysia Chemical offers the highest affinity for specific chill haze proteins currently available of any silica gel on the market. Developed and patented in a cooperative effort between one of Japan’s leading brewers and Fuji Silysia, Sylopute is now available to the worldwide brewing industry.
DESICCANT / INDUSTRIAL DRYING
The highest desiccant available today is a porous, amorphous form of silica, synthetically manufactured from sodium silicate and sulfuric acid. The manufacturing process has been refined by Fuji Silysia Chemical to allow the precise control of the silica’s physical characteristics, including its size, shape, pore volume, and surface area. The resulting line of Fuji Silica Gel grades includes a wide variety of adsorption profiles and size ranges in both spherical and granular shapes that provide for optimum performance in many applications. Blue indicator type is available as are many packaging styles to suit any application.
ART CONSERVATION
The preservation of great works of art requires extreme amo art collections are constantly touring the world, and different geographic regions have extremes in climates, sudden changes in humidity are a caretaker’s nightmare. Fuji Silysia answers with Art Sorb. Art Sorb is a moisture-sensitive silica material which absorbs and desorbs moisture in order to offset changes in external relative humidity.
